History of ECMTB

ECMTB, formerly known as ECMBM – the European Conference on Mathematics applied to Biology and Medicine – was organized for the first time in Grenoble-Alpes D’Huez in 1991, followed by Lyon in 1993, and Heidelberg in 1996.  Now, after 26 years, the scientific event returns to Heidelberg!

Throughout the years, as Mathematical Biology became increasingly important and popular among researchers, the conference has grown in number of participants and expanded the research topics featured, on both the mathematical and biological sides. At every meeting, researchers from around the world joined to present and learn about cutting-edge research, advancing the field of Mathematical Biology.

Over the years, ECMTB has been hosted by prestigious universities across Europe: Grenoble (1991), Lyon (1993), Heidelberg (1996), Amsterdam (1999), Milano (2002), Dresden (2005), Edinburgh (2008), Krakow (2011), Gothenburg (2014), Nottingham (2016), Lisbon (2018), and now again in Heidelberg (2022).

So join us in Heidelberg at the ECMTB 2022 to continue, together, the advancement of Mathematical and Theoretical Biology!
