Please join us before the start of the scientific meeting for the SMB Early Career Workshop including a variety of presentations and discussions around careers in mathematical biology.

The Early Career Workshop will take place on Sunday, 18.09.2022 in Mathematikon Hörsaal.

The aim of the Early Career Workshop is to provide tools for students, postdocs and junior faculty members who are embarking on the job market, or thinking about doing so in the future. It is a tradition at the SMB meetings starting in 2007 and demonstrating that achieving an academic or scientific career is not only possible but can be broken down into manageable steps. This is part of the Society for Mathematical Biology’s established interest in mentoring junior scientists.

The speakers this year are Stacey Smith?, Shelby Scott, Angela Peace and Elissa Schwartz. They are experts in mentoring, having been part of the SMB mentoring committee for many years now, with two of them co-chairing the mentoring taskforce. Their research interests run the gamut of mathematical biology applications, and they are at a variety of career stages.
